Rich Homie Quan cause of death: Shocking reason behind Atlanta rapper's demise revealed

According to officials, Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan overdosed on drugs accidentally and passed away in Georgia last month.

The Fulton County medical examiner stated in a statement on Wednesday that the rapper, who first appeared on the hip-hop scene more than ten years ago, was murdered by the “combined toxic effects of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine.”

The medical examiner concluded that the death was the result of an accident.

The rapper’s death was reported to the staff of Atlanta’s Grady Memorial Hospital on September 5, according to the medical examiner.

Born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, Rich Homie Quan was thirty-three.

He scored a big hit more than a decade ago with “Type of Way.” He followed it up in 2015 with “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh).”

His significant other found him sleeping on the sofa on Sept. 5, according to an Atlanta police incident report. When she went to check on him later, “his body was cold,” the incident report said. Police on the scene reported he did not appear to be alert, conscious or breathing.

The report also said police spoke to his brother, who earlier had found him asleep on the kitchen floor with food in his mouth. The brother lifted him and put him on the couch, according to the incident report.

According to a 911 call, Rich Homie Quan’s girlfriend told a dispatcher he was not responsive.

“I don’t see him breathing,” the woman said, her voice cracking. “I don’t feel a heartbeat or anything. I turned him over, I see he kind of foamed at the mouth.”
