Lagos: Three dead, others injured as truck rams into vehicles, building at Ayetoro market

On Monday, a devastating accident occurred at Ayetoro Market in Lagos, resulting in the loss of three lives. The incident was caused by a truck that experienced brake failure while descending from Ita-Opo.

As the truck lost control, it collided with a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry before crashing into the Ayetoro Complex. The impact was severe, leading to the unfortunate deaths of three individuals. Their bodies have since been transported to the morgue at Epe General Hospital.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the details of the accident through a post on their X handle. They reported that traffic in the area has been redirected to facilitate smoother movement for other vehicles.

In their statement, LASTMA noted, “A fatal accident occurred due to a brake failure of a truck descending from Ita-Opo, which hit a commercial tricycle and a parked Toyota Camry, then rammed into the Ayetoro Market/Complex.”

In response to the situation, a tow truck has been deployed to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene. Authorities are working diligently to manage the aftermath of this tragic event and ensure the safety of all road users.
