In a shocking and tragic event, a former sarpanch of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was brutally murdered early on Wednesday morning in Hosuru village, located in Pattikonda constituency, which is represented by TDP’s K.E. Syam Babu.
Brutal Attack in the Early Hours
Vakiti Srinivasulu, aged 45, met a gruesome end at the hands of his rivals. Reports indicate that the attackers used a combination of chilli powder and violent weapons, such as rods and sickles, to inflict fatal injuries. The assault occurred right outside Srinivasulu’s home, leaving him dead on the spot.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Srinivasa Reddy responded swiftly to the incident. Upon arrival, he gathered information from local residents to piece together what happened. DSP Reddy confirmed that Srinivasulu was attacked by unidentified assailants as he emerged from his house.
TDP Leaders React to the Tragedy
Following the incident, K.E. Syam Babu, the TDP representative for the Pattikonda constituency, visited the scene and called for justice for Srinivasulu’s family. Syam Babu expressed his deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Srinivasulu’s significant role in securing his recent electoral victory.
In response to the murder, Kurnool Superintendent of Police (SP) G. Bindu Madhav has established special investigation teams to delve into the case and identify those responsible.
Political Reactions and Accusations
The tragic murder has sparked political reactions. Nara Lokesh, TDP’s general secretary and Minister for IT, Electronics, and Human Resource Development, took to social media platform ‘X’ to condemn the violence. Lokesh accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) activists of being behind the attack, asserting that they had not learned from their recent electoral defeat.
This incident has highlighted ongoing political tensions and raised concerns about violence in local politics. The community and political leaders are now calling for swift justice and measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
