Former children's TV host Fiona MacDonald dies aged 67

Fiona MacDonald, a former TV host, passed away at the age of 67. She was most renowned for her work on the game show It’s a Knockout and the children’s program Wombat.

Growing up in the outback of Queensland, on a cattle station in Blackall, were Ms. McDonald and her sister Jacki.

In the 1980s, both of them were regulars on Australian television.

Ms. MacDonald was identified as having motor neurone disease (MND) in November of 2021.

Using social media, she posted an announcement of her own death with the caption, “My sister Kylie is posting this because I have left the building.”

“Last night brought an end to a very tough few months,” she wrote.

The boys and Kylie stayed with me to say farewell, and it was extremely quiet. Even though I’ve never wanted to pass away, it felt good to think of leaving my suffering body behind.

“The last few months have been tough.”

Was very peaceful the boys and Kylie stayed with me to say goodbye. While I’ve never wanted to die, the thought of leaving my tortured body was a relief.

“The last few months have been tough.”
